Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 100g unsalted butter, softened
  • 200ml milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and lemon zest.
  5. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a smooth dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough into equal pieces, about the size of a golf ball.
  7. Roll each piece into a long rope (about 30 cm) and form into a ring, twisting the ends together to create a 'S' shape.
  8. Place the shaped kringla on a lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
